This result represented more than a 13 per cent increase compared to November 2010. New listings were up 16 per cent over the same period. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;&amp;ldquo;The results for the first two weeks of November point to two important facts: &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;First, despite global economic uncertainty, buyers have remained confident in the affordable housing market in the GTA. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;Second, stronger growth in new listings means that it is becoming easier for buyers to find a home that meets their needs,&amp;rdquo; said Toronto Real Estate Board President Richard Silver. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Default" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:11pt;"&gt;The average selling price through the first 14 days of November was $481,548 &amp;ndash; up by 10 per cent compared to the average of $437,510 reported for the first two weeks of November 2010. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:11pt;"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0pt;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:11pt;"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;&amp;ldquo;Little or no movement is expected for mortgage rates through 2012. Low rates coupled with the consensus outlook for continued economic growth next year suggests that homes will remain affordable in the GTA and households will remain confident in doing deals. Market Watch</category></item><item><title>Canadians don&#39;t regret their mortgage choices</title><link>http://www.condoandhome.ca/blogs/natalie_korchuk/archive/2011/11/16/canadians-don-t-regret-their-mortgage-choices.aspx</link><pubDate>Wed, 16 Nov 2011 20:19:00 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">28f5c413-a1e9-4ec0-8e4b-849219f2a58c:1161603</guid><dc:creator>Natalie Korchuk</dc:creator><slash:comments>0</slash:comments><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;Canadians have heard the many cautions about carrying too much debt and are taking action to insulate themselves from&amp;nbsp;future economic downturns, says an annual report by the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP).&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;Highlights of the report say:&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;* About one-third (32 per cent) of homeowners with mortgages had some mortgage activity in 2011, with 23 per cent renewing or refinancing their mortgage.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;* Fixed-rate mortgages remain most popular (at 60 per cent), while 31 per cent have variable rate mortgages.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;* Among those who renewed their mortgage in the past 12 months, 78 per cent saw a reduction in their rate.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;* Among those who renewed or refinanced their mortgages in the last year, 21 per cent changed lenders.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;* Levels of equity takeout have dropped in 2011 &amp;ndash; only 10 per cent of mortgage holders took out equity in the last year, a 40 per cent drop from 2010.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&lt;font face="Times New Roman"&gt;&amp;ldquo;Overall, our survey paints a picture of Canadians generally and homeowners in particular as very focused on their finances.
